Keith Schramm of Alderbrook Farms
The Sherwood Forest is proud to announce the arrival of their newest trainer Keith Schramm. At the age of 15 he was World Junior National Youth Championships in Saddlebreds. After attending college at the University of Oregon he became interested in the sport of eventing.
Keith teamed up with is young bay horse, Tyzack and together the pair cleaned up at top competitions on the West Coast. They then headed to the east coast for training with top eventers and more competition. There he continued to do well, riding for the US team.
While heading for the USET selection trials for the 1984 Olympics, Tyzack took a bad step coming off the trailer, injuring his suspensory ligament. This accident ended Keith's Olympic dream. With his Olympic hopes dashed, Keith continued to ride, train, teach and compet. Prior to coming to The Sherwood Forest he operated his ALderbrook Farms out of the Lake Oswego Hunt Club, where he had been President, Vice President and manager at one time or another. In 1990 he was named the full time event instructor and trainer.
His favorite part of the job is working with people. Keith has trained many riders who have continued to go on and have successful careers. Keith is currently accepting clients into his program. For more information about training please contact Keith @ (503)-260-8657.
Adria Fix of IronHorse Eventing:
Adria started her love of horses when she was 7 years old at Summer Camp. She began taking regular lessons at the Lake Oswego Hunt Riding School. After 3 years in the Riding School, she moved on to train with Keith Schramm, the Eventing trainer at LOH. Under Keith, Adria received opportunities to ride a wide variety of horses and eventually worked up to jumping 3' and completing at the Novice level. Since she didn't own a horse, Keith had her working with some of his green horses and horses that needed schooling.
After high school, Adria went to Goucher College and competed on their IHSA and ANRC teams. She did well for the team going to Regionals her freshman year and taking Regional Champion to move on to compete at Zones. She missed going to Nationals by 3 places. Her Junior year she competed for the team at Regionals and Zones, where the team placed 3rd. She qualified again for Regionals her Senior year, placing 4th. For ANRC, she competed in an invitational at Sweetbriar College. Her experience in Eventing gave her an advantage. She took Champion over all for her level and helped her team take Champion.
During her time at Goucher College, she also taught as an Assistant Instructor, teaching beginners basic equitation. On her summers at home she taught summer camps and lessons for the Lake Oswego Hunt Riding School and was Keith's working student, riding his client's horses. After college, she worked for a Holistic Vet in Tigard while continuing to be Keith's working student. After a year she was hired as the Assistant Director of the Lake Oswego Hunt Riding School. She managed all the instructors, the horse's care and for the summer taught all the summer camps. She became the Interim Riding School Manager, after the Director left and managed the whole program.
